As you will be aware, The Rise School is the first school set up by the Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust in September 2014. It is a special day school dedicated to educating pupils with autism aged 4 to 18.The Rise School is located in West London on the same campus as the Springwest Academy, a thriving secondary mainstream school. This enables pupils to access learning and social opportunities alongside their mainstream peers, whilst receiving the specialist support they need. The school provides specialist and integrated education and support to enable pupils to learn, thrive and achieve. Pupils are supported by the schools’ own highly skilled team of qualified teachers, behaviour analysts, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, working together to enable them to achieve outstanding outcomes.
The report, which is available to download on The Rise School website, said “the head teacher has taken the school from strength to strength. She is well supported by trustees and other senior leaders. The school continues to evolve and grow, as have the team of dedicated and talented staff.” It praises “the school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare [as] outstanding”. It also describes the curriculum as “broad, balanced, creative and flexible to meet the individual needs of all pupils”.
We also recognise areas for development including ensuring “middle leaders are held responsible for raising the quality of teaching and achievement for their specific areas” and “ensuring younger pupils have more time to apply their writing and mathematical skills in other subjects, especially in science”. We take all areas of development seriously and they will form a core part of our School Development Plan.
